Children and Youth Regular Activities

Children's Sunday School
Sunday School is for all children birth through 8th grade. We meet in the Family Café on Sunday mornings from 9-9:50 a.m. where we sing songs, hear Bible stories, make crafts, act out skits, and other fun faith related activities centered around each week’s theme. We currently use the Narrative Lectionary curriculum “Living the Word.” Parents of young children are encouraged to stay with their child.

It has been a year since the children and youth held their last Butter Braid sale, so we’re pretty sure you are in need of more Braids to replenish your freezer. If not, you might want to bake the ones you still have so that you can order more of these delicious pastries.

The children and youth will begin taking orders on Sunday, October 7th. For two weeks you will have an opportunity to order your Braids that will be ready for pick up on Monday, November 12th, just in time for your Thanksgiving holiday guests.

Cost per Braid is $14, with all of the classic choices available, plus a new flavor – 4 cheese and herb.

Proceeds will be split between scholarships for those youth attending Triennium and children and youth attending camp at Clearwater Forest next summer.

October 28th has been set aside as the annual Stewardship hog roast following worship that day, and the youth have been asked to again help with serving and clean up. All youth should report to John Knox Hall at 10:30 a.m. to receive instructions from the B&S Committee. Contact Jill Boeyink if you have any questions.

Kids of all ages are invited to a “Fall Festival” at First Presbyterian Church on Halloween night, October 31st from 6-7:30 p.m. There will be games, along with face painting. In addition to all of that, children will be invited to travel from car to car lining the church parking lot where they can pick a treat or two from the various decorated car trunks. This will be the first ever “Trunk or Treat” event held at FPC, so please join us in getting the word out.

Now, to make this “Trunk or Treat” event a success, we need YOU! If you would like to join in the fun by decorating your car trunk (and yourself) and handing out candy to the kids in costume, please let Jill Boeyink know by October 22nd. Another way to help out…donate individually wrapped, store bought candy to hand out. A box for donations will be located in the Narthex beginning October 7th.

FPC is a fun and safe place to be on Halloween night... plan to make this stop on your adventure for the night, and invite your friends and family!
